NZINGHA’s Fried Turkey & Dressing Dumplin

Have you ever had an idea that was really a fortunate accident…serendipity? In this case that’s what happened with me and Thanksgiving Leftovers! Sometimes you simply don’t know what to do with everything that’s left in your refrigerator after Thanksgiving.

I mean really,… how many Turkey Sandwiches can you have before you really are just bored to tears! In years past that was a ritual or making a Turkey Soup of sorts. As I matured in the kitchen I’d discovered numerous new and creative ways to make Thanksgiving’s leftovers into gourmet Appetizers or whole new Entree’s.
Dressing & Turkey Mixture

This is a simple little recipe that is truly an all in one dish. I know when I first made these Dumplin’s no sooner than I made them ,they were gone in minutes! You can say without a doubt these became our new Thanksgiving special.

Think of it… all of the remaining Turkey bits from its cooking pan in its own jus (super yummy everyone in the family is always digging at the bottom of the pan) coupled with your favourite family holiday dressing?! Ours staple family dressing is my Cornbread Dressing. My Cornbread Dressing has of course Cornbread in it, cranberries, walnuts roasted veggies, Caribbean spices and sausage (can’t give you that recipe just yet! Lololol)

Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups of pan Turkey & sliced Turkey pieces
1 medium bowl of leftover Cornbread Dressing
1 cup of sifted Flour
1 whole Egg
1/4 tsp of Black Pepper
1/4 tsp of Lawry’s Seasoned Salt
1/4 tsp of Paprika
1 fresh sprig of Thyme
Vegetable Oil for frying

In your bowl of Cornbread dressing you will add your Turkey bits and its jus along with your Egg.

Mix the mixture well folding all of the ingredients together.

In a separate bowl you add your sifted Flour, Black Pepper, Paprika and Seasoned Salt and mix it well in the bowl. You can use the bowl for coating your Dumplin’s or my favourite method put it all in a ziplock and shake!!!

Now you prepare your Oil for frying.

Now form your Dumplin’s. I happen to make mine rather small (though they look gigantic in the pictures) about the size of a quarter in a little ball. Using a Meatball scooper I form the Dumplin’s.

Then one by one coat the Dumplin’s in your flour mixture then add them to the fryer. Fry them until they’re golden brown and crispy on the outside. Also add your sprig of Thyme to the fryer for flavor and decoration

I like to serve the Dumplin’s as my Appetizers but, they can also be great sides.

I serve them with my Ginger Mango Cranberry Dipping Sauce
